CABBAGE TREE ISLAND RACE

4 - 5 DEC 2025

Cruising Yacht Club of Australia

ABOUT

The Cabbage Tree Island Race is one of Australia’s iconic offshore challenges, taking the fleet north from Sydney Harbour along the NSW coast to Cabbage Tree Island before turning south for the return to Sydney. The 172-nautical-mile course combines high-speed offshore racing with the tactical challenges of coastal navigation and changing conditions.

The race is the final offshore race of the Blue Water Pointscore and also forms part of the Australian Maxi Championship, making it a particularly important event for the leading Maxi campaigns. With the fleet racing through the day and into the night, crews are tested across a long, fast course where boat speed, sail handling, navigation, and tactical decision-making all play a critical role.

For Moneypenny, Cabbage Tree Island is an important opportunity to build on the previous campaign and enter the Australian Maxi Championship with momentum. After finishing 6th across the line and on IRC in 2025 in a fleet of 76 yachts, Moneypenny returns to Cabbage Tree Island in 2026 with the goal of improving on last year’s result and positioning itself strongly heading into the championship.
