ROLEX SYDNEY HOBART RACE

The Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race is one of the world’s most iconic offshore sailing events, bringing together a highly competitive fleet for the 628-nautical-mile journey from Sydney Harbour to Hobart since 1994. Starting on Boxing Day, the fleet races south along Australia’s east coast before crossing Bass Strait and finishing in Hobart.

The race is renowned for its challenging and unpredictable conditions, with crews facing everything from light coastal breezes to powerful weather systems, strong currents and the notoriously demanding waters of Bass Strait. Success requires exceptional boat speed, navigation, strategy, endurance and teamwork across what can be several days at sea.

2026 is Moneypenny’s revenge campaign. After being forced to withdraw from the 2025 Sydney Hobart following the loss of a lifeboat overboard, the team never got the chance to complete the race. This year, Moneypenny returns to the Boxing Day start with unfinished business!
